Ten of the Best in CB Goal Fest.
Premier Division
Cadoxton Barry 10 - 1 Barry Athletic
Livingstone 4,...........Evans (pen)
Randall 3, Parry,
Aeyres, Cleary
From the moment Randall opened the scoring in the 7th minute the final outcome was never in doubt. Then, five minutes later, it was Ayres flicking home from a Cleary feed. After that we saw Parry chipping the 'keeper from a Thompson through ball. Randall beat the full back on the left to cross for Livingstone to hit home in one. Ten minutes before the break Livingstone set up Randall to make it five. Livingstone scored his second on the stroke of half time. Randall trapped the ball to find Cleary who guided it on for Livingstone to finish, slicing the ball back beyond the reach of the 'keeper.
Starting the second half with a 6 - 0 lead, the substitutions, which had a strong accent on the youth team, started. And for a very short spell Athletic looked threatening. The period also saw a seemingly strange moment when an Athletic forward was clipped on the edge of the box. He stayed on his feet for two paces and as his colleagues called for a foul went to ground. He was booked, seemingly for simulation, before the referee pointed to the spot! Former CB player, Des Evans, then stepped up to convert the spot kick.
But with the hosts rediscovering their shape, the goals started streaming once more, Dando setting up CB's seventh goal. He made ground down the right wing before crossing to see Williams C welly a shot straight at the 'keeper. It's power saw the block rebound back into play for Livingstone to finally find the net for his hattrick.
Then, only a minute later, Livingstone helped Randall join the hattrick club when he dinked a ball forward from the left. Whilst Randall had his back to goal he seemed to be aware that the 'keeper was a little forward of his line. And so his back header became one of the most unusual goals you are ever likely to see.
The ninth goal saw the Randall/Livingstone combination in action again, only this time Randall did the providing as he helped on a Dando cross for Livingstone to do the rest. The final goal saw a perfectly measured Dando corner headed down and in by Cleary to complete the rout.
This win sees Cadoxton Barry take over the second spot on goal difference from St Athan, three points behind leaders, Penarth Town. Next Saturday Cadoxton Barry entertain Tynewydd Inn at Bryn-Y-Don. KO 2pm.
